If you're reading this, you are a newly-admitted student seeking advice on a laptop to use here on Campus.
The two most popular laptop styles are the Windows 10 PC and Apple Mac Book. Both of these styles of laptop will allow you to install any app needed for academic work, and recreation.
Chrome Books are best for people who don't install apps and only use their device for Internet, Google Mail, and Google Apps. Chrome Books do not allow the installation of outside apps. Chrome Books also require an Internet connection to work.
Some students with Art majors have opted for tablets such as the iPad, iPad Pro, Samsung Galaxy, and Kindle Fire. Many of these devices work with Bluetooth keyboards and mice.
For most majors, the best advice is to choose between a Windows laptop (Dell, HP, Lenovo, etc.) or an Apple Mac Book. It's also wise to contact your faculty adviser for information regarding the use of the laptop based on your major, because it could be the deciding factor. Also, accidents happen so we recommend the purchase of a protective case for your device.
