Securing your Account with 2 Factor Authentication

2-step verification adds an extra layer of security to your account by requiring you to sign in with something you know (your password) and something you have (a code sent to your phone).

Set up 2-Step Verification
  1. Click here to sign in to Google's My Account.
  2. In the "Sign-in & security" section, select Signing in to Google.
  3. Choose 2-Step Verification (first option in column). This will bring you to the 2-Step Verification settings page.
  4. Add your current personal mobile device phone number This will be your main form of authentication). You may enable as many authentication methods as you would like; this is a personal preference. 
  5. Return to your General Settings page, and ensure that your Recover Phone and the phone for 2-Step Verification are identical. 
You have now successfully enrolled. The next time you sign in, you’ll receive an SMS text message with a verification code.
